Committment to equality
BDFA is committed to the principles of equality of opportunity and is responsible for ensuring that no job applicants, employees, volunteers, staff, referees, coaches, office holders and participants (collectively known as Stakeholders) are unlawfully discriminated against because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation (“Protected Characteristics”)
In addition BDFA recognises that we live in a diverse society and will endeavour wherever practical to hold events eg training weekends, competitions in a variety of venues so as not to disadvantage through socio economic backgrounds.
We have appointed our Chairman Shuna Body as lead officer for equality to ensure that equality is embedded throughout the organisation at all levels and to work towards achieving the Equality Foundation Stage, as a building block to the future. Shuna attended the National LGBT Health Summit in September and will be reporting to the committee a report of the event. Once this has been presented to the committee it will appear on the website.
